Jonathan Wohl grew up in the lovely rural countryside of southwestern Wisconsin. His early life consisted largely of lying in grassy fields, tromping about the forest, sledding at the neighbors' with his sister Kaela, drinking boatloads of hot chocolate, and creating lego spaceships. At the age of five his parents arranged his first piano lessons, and thus he came to know about civilized music making. While still in grade school, Jonathan began playing the drums, and soon thereafter started teaching himself the guitar and experimenting with synthesizers. During high school he was a member of the Boyscout Dropouts, a four-piece rock band who broke up promptly after recording their first demo EP.
Throughout his teens, Jonathan worked closely with his father, a professional woodworker and furniture designer, learning the importance of attention to detail in all artistic endeavors. The father/son team successfully designed and built the first Wohl orginal electric guitar in 2000, and the second is currently in process (sort of).
Although he'd spent plenty of hours playing computer games ('Beyond Dark Castle' was a favorite), it was not until he began his university studies that Jonathan started to explore the realm of computer programming and digital media. There he began to combine his interest in mathematics, physics, and art as a way of understanding and interpretting the world. Over the past several years Jonathan has written endless amounts of music via his solo project whirm, which will hopefully congeal into an album of some kind within the next year or two. His art practice has varied, but most recently he's been working with The Rotarians Society, an art collaborative comprised of fellow IATech grads. He is currently based in New York City, where he works as a freelance web developer, lies around in the (small patches of) grass, tromps about the (urban) forest, goes (virtual) sledding, drinks boatloads of hot chocolate, and makes lego spaceships.
